I picked up Power Rangers: SPD for the Game Boy Advance back in 2005, a game developed by Natsume and published by THQ. It was a solid side-scrolling beat 'em up that fit right in with the kind of action titles you'd find on the GBA, offering a straightforward adaptation of the TV show without a lot of extra fluff. It was a simple, portable experience that knew exactly what it was.
You control one of the SPD Rangers, switching between them to use their unique weapons and special attacks as you move through levels filled with enemy Gruggs. The main goal is to fight your way to the end of each stage, defeat the boss, and clear the mission. Key mechanics include switching Rangers on the fly to exploit enemy weaknesses and building up a special meter to unleash powerful finishing moves. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty feels fair, with enemy patterns that are easy to learn but keep you alert. It feels satisfying to plow through crowds of enemies with a well-timed special attack.
