Puyo Puyo 2 (or Puyo Puyo Tsu if you're going by the Japanese name) is where the series really clicked for me. It's still that same colorful blob-matching madness, but they added this sneaky "offset" rule where you can chain combos off garbage blobs your opponent sends you. First time I pulled off a counter-chain, I swear I felt like a puzzle wizard.
The AI gets brutal fast—Arle and Carbuncle start throwing wild 5-chain setups at you like it's nothing. And that weird little dark wizard guy? Total menace. Still one of the best versus puzzle games ever, even if the Genesis version's music sounds like someone banging on a tin can.
