Game Overview

Racket Attack came out for the NES in 1993, a time when the console was still home to plenty of new releases. It was developed by TOSE and published by Jaleco, fitting right in with the era's straightforward sports titles. You wouldn't mistake its blocky, colorful graphics for anything from the 16-bit generation, but it had a certain charm.

You control a tennis player from a side view, moving left and right to hit the ball back over the net. The main goal is to win matches by outscoring increasingly difficult opponents. Key mechanics include charging up your shots by holding the button for more power and carefully timing your returns to place the ball. The game starts deceptively simple but quickly demands precision as the AI reads your moves and punishes weak returns. It feels like a genuine test of reflexes and patience, especially during long rallies where a single mistimed swing can cost you the point.
