Play Recordbreaker Online
Smash buttons like a maniac in some events, time your breaths in others—one wrong move and your swimmer just sinks. The pole vault will break you before you break any records.

Recordbreaker came out in 1992 from Arcade Innovators, a company that put out a few solid titles during the arcade's later years. It was a time when games were starting to experiment more with multi-event challenges rather than sticking to just one sport, and this one fit right into that trend without trying to reinvent the wheel.
You control an all-around athlete competing in a series of Olympic style events, from sprinting and swimming to the pole vault and long jump. The main goal is to beat the current records across each event, one after another, to post the highest total score. The mechanics change for each event: sprinting has you mashing two buttons alternately as fast as possible, swimming requires carefully timed button presses to coordinate strokes and breathing, and the pole vault demands precise timing on the run-up, plant, and release. The pacing is intense, and the difficulty is unforgiving; mistime a single input and your attempt is basically over. It feels like a constant battle between your reflexes and the machine's brutal expectations.
