Game Overview

Reel Fish'n came out for the Amiga in 1990, developed by The Power House and published by MicroIllusions. It was one of several fishing games on the platform at the time, aiming to capture the quiet focus of the sport in a digital format. The game didn't try to reinvent the genre, but offered a straightforward, no frills approach to virtual angling.

You control a fisherman from a first person perspective, selecting your bait and casting your line into one of several lakes or rivers. The main goal is to catch as many fish as possible, either in free fishing mode or by competing in tournaments against the clock. Key mechanics include managing your line tension to avoid snapping it, and reeling in fish with a careful rhythm to tire them out. The pacing is slow and deliberate, demanding patience rather than quick reflexes. It feels like a calm, methodical test of your timing and attention.
