Man, The Revenge of Shinobi still holds up as one of the tightest action games on the Genesis. You play as Joe Musashi, this ninja with a grudge, slicing through mobsters, cyborgs, and even a weirdly out-of-place Spider-Man boss (licensing was wild back then). The levels jump from neon-lit city rooftops to ancient temples, and Yuzo Koshiro’s soundtrack? Absolute fire—those synth beats make you feel like you’re in some ‘80s ninja flick.
It’s tough as nails, though. One wrong jump and you’re kissing concrete, and some enemies take way too many shurikens to put down. But nailing that perfect run where you chain kills without getting hit? Pure satisfaction. Still the best Shinobi game, hands down.
