I picked up The Revenge of Shinobi for the Game Boy Advance back in 2002, a time when the handheld was really hitting its stride with action games. It was developed by 3d6 Games and published by THQ, bringing a classic Sega title into a portable format. This version tried to capture the spirit of the original arcade and Genesis games, fitting right in with the GBA's growing library of ninja and platforming adventures.
You control the ninja Joe Musashi, moving through side scrolling stages to defeat enemies and rescue your kidnapped master. The gameplay involves running, jumping across platforms, and using a mix of sword slashes and thrown shurikens to clear your path. Each level is a self contained challenge with environmental hazards and boss fights at the end. The difficulty is fairly high, demanding quick reflexes and careful timing to avoid traps and enemy attacks. It feels fast and demanding, keeping you focused on every move.
