Your goal is to defeat eight Robot Masters, acquire their weapons, and use those tools to overcome obstacles and bosses in Dr. Wily's fortress. The game retains the series' classic screen-by-screen platforming and encourages backtracking with new abilities to access hidden items and health upgrades. It is notoriously difficult, demanding precise jumps and quick reactions to enemy patterns. Playing it feels like a constant test of patience and skill, where every victory is earned through repetition and adaptation.
