Game Overview

Rockman & Forte (or Mega Man & Bass, depending on which version you're playing) is one of those SNES Mega Man games that flew under the radar for a lot of people. It's got that classic run-and-gun action you'd expect, but with a twist—you can play as either Mega Man or Bass right from the start. Bass feels totally different, with a dash move and a spread shot that makes him way more aggressive than Mega Man's usual precision playstyle.

The level design is brutal in that old-school Mega Man way—expect spikes, disappearing blocks, and enemies placed just to mess with you. Some of the robot master fights are absolute classics, though. Cold Man's stage has this weird conveyor belt gimmick that still trips me up sometimes. The English patch by Aeon Genesis makes it way more playable if you're not up for deciphering Japanese menus.

It's not the easiest Mega Man game, but if you like the challenge, it's got that satisfying "one more try" pull. Just don't throw your controller at Dynamo Man's stage.
