SeaQuest DSV on SNES is one of those weirdly satisfying underwater shooters that somehow makes piloting a submarine feel fast and tense. You start off in this claustrophobic side-scrolling view, dodging mines that look like floating disco balls and blasting fish that seem personally offended by your presence. The controls take a minute to click—your sub has this weight to it, like you're really pushing through water—but once they do, weaving through caves while torpedoing enemy drones feels great.

What surprised me was how much personality the pixel art has. Schools of fish scatter when you fire, and the way sunlight filters through deeper zones makes the ocean feel less like a level and more like a place. The upgrades help too—nothing beats the first time you unlock the homing missiles and suddenly those annoying eels aren't so tough anymore. Just watch out for the later levels; some of those narrow lava vents will test your patience.

If you grew up with the TV show, the little nods to the series are a nice touch, but even if you didn't, it's a solid underwater shooter with its own vibe. Just don't expect to beat it in one sitting—those boss fights demand some trial and error.
