Captain Commando weaves through a brutal space maze where wrong turns mean instant death—upgrades help, but that won’t stop the walls from sprouting turrets mid-flight. Capcom’s bleepy soundtrack somehow makes the chaos feel stylish.

Game Overview

Section-Z is one of those NES shooters that feels like it's actively trying to mess with you—in a good way. You play as Captain Commando (yes, that's really his name) flying through this maze-like space fortress, and half the challenge is figuring out which branching path won't get you instantly vaporized by some ridiculous enemy spawn. The music's got that classic Capcom energy, all bleeps and bloops that somehow make getting shot at feel cool.

What I love is how the game keeps switching things up—one minute you're dodging asteroids, the next you're threading through tight corridors with turrets popping out everywhere. The weapon upgrades actually matter too; grab the wrong one and suddenly you're stuck with a pea shooter against a screen full of drones. It's tough as nails, but in that satisfying "one more try" way.

Just don't be surprised when you accidentally backtrack into a dead end and get swarmed. Happens to the best of us.
