Play Shining Soul II (E)(Menace) Online

Pick a class, dive into randomized dungeons, and watch hours disappear as you smash monsters and hoard loot—especially when a friend joins the chaos. Those chunky pixel hits feel way too good for a GBA game.

Game Overview

Shining Soul II came out on the Game Boy Advance in 2003, developed by Grasshopper Manufacture and published by Sega. It was part of that wave of portable action RPGs that really made the GBA feel like a little console in your hands, with games that offered more depth than you might expect from the hardware.

You choose from one of several character classes, like a warrior or archer, and hack your way through screen after screen of monsters in multi-floor dungeons. Your goal is to stop an ancient evil, but mostly you're just clearing rooms, grabbing gold, and hunting for better gear. The combat is straightforward but satisfying, with special attacks you can map to buttons and a ton of equipment to find and upgrade. It moves at a quick pace, and the difficulty feels fair without being too simple. Playing it just feels solid and absorbing, especially with the constant lure of one more treasure chest or one more level up.
