You control Bart Simpson, running through side-scrolling levels in Springfield. Your goal is to stop an alien invasion, mostly by finding and spraying purple objects before the mutants can use them. You also collect items like firecrackers and slingshot ammo to deal with enemies and obstacles. The game is known for its awkward jumping and strict timing, which adds a layer of frustration. Finishing a level gives a real sense of relief, like you outsmarted the game itself.
