SkidMarks came out for the Amiga in 1995, published by Codemasters. It was one of those games that felt right at home on the platform, especially if you had friends over. While other racing games were pushing for realism, this one leaned into pure, chaotic fun with a top-down view and a focus on customization and multiplayer.

You control a small, customizable car across various tracks, from dirt to ice, each surface drastically changing how your vehicle handles. The main goal is straightforward: win the race. You can tweak your car's tires and engine before each event, and during the race you pick up power-ups like nitro boosts for a sudden speed burst or oil slicks to sabotage opponents. The game moves quickly, and the physics are slippery, demanding constant adjustments to avoid spinning out. It feels frantic and unpredictable, especially with four players crammed around one screen.
