Slap Shot takes air hockey and cranks it up with wild special moves and a cast of characters that actually matter. You pick one of six fighters—I went with the ninja first, no regrets—and then it's sudden death against the others in quick 90-second rounds. First to two goals wins, or whoever's ahead when time runs out.
The controls are simple but sneaky: one button smacks the puck straight, the other curves it. But the real fun starts when your special meter fills up. Time it right—hit both buttons as the puck slides toward you—and you’ll unleash a ridiculous power shot. The catch? Your opponent can mash buttons to try and deflect it, so timing matters more than you’d think.
It’s chaotic, but in that perfect arcade way where every match feels like its own little drama. Some characters have faster moves, others hit harder—took me a few tries to figure out who clicked with my playstyle. The whole thing’s over fast, but you’ll probably restart immediately just to try another fighter.
