Download Sleeping Gods Lie_Disk1 ROM – Amiga Game
Action-RPG with first-person, pseudo-3D exploration. Real-time combat using bows, slings, and magic staffs. Features experience-based progression, day-night cycles, and environmental puzzles. Released in 1989 for Amiga.
Sleeping Gods Lie drops you into Tessera, this weirdly shaped world where everything’s gone to hell because some power-hungry Archmage has the emperor wrapped around his finger. You’re just some guy in a backwater town when a dying kobbold shows up at your door with a cryptic message—now you’re stuck trying to wake up a forgotten god named N’Gnir. Good luck with that.
The whole thing’s in first-person, with that classic Amiga "fake 3D" look—think blocky corridors and pixelated landscapes, but somehow it works. You’ll poke around for gear, solve the occasional puzzle, and fight off monsters with whatever you can scrounge up: slings, bows, even magic staves if you’re lucky. Combat’s all real-time, no turn-based stuff here, and winning fights slowly beefs up your health and magic.
Weirdest part? The game runs on its own calendar—17 months, 17 days each, with nights so dark (on Amiga, at least) you’ll just stand there waiting for sunrise. The DOS version cheats and skips the nighttime gloom, which honestly sounds like the better deal.
It’s janky in that late-’90s way, but there’s something oddly compelling about stumbling through this broken world with nothing but a slingshot and a vague divine mission.
