Download Sleeping Gods Lie_Disk2 ROM – Amiga Game
Action-RPG hybrid with first-person exploration and combat using bows, slings, and magic staffs. Features experience-based progression, a 17-month calendar system, and puzzle-solving. Released in 1989 for Amiga.
Sleeping Gods Lie drops you into Tessera, a world shaped like a tesseract (yeah, that’s as weird as it sounds) where eight kingdoms are crumbling under an Archmage’s rule. You start as some nobody in Thurin—lucky you, it’s one of the few places not completely wrecked yet—until a dying kobbold shows up with a cryptic message about waking a god. Suddenly, you’re the chosen one. Typical.
The first-person view makes everything feel claustrophobic in that classic '90s "fake 3D" way—think maze-like towns, creepy dungeons, and a lot of suspiciously empty fields. Combat’s straightforward: if something moves, shoot it with whatever you’ve got. Bows, slings, magic staffs—you’ll hoard them all, but half the time you’re just frantically backpedaling while something gnarly lunges at you.
Weirdest detail? The in-game calendar has 17 months, all named after gods, and nights actually go pitch black on the Amiga. Forget about seeing your hand in front of your face—hope you packed a torch. The DOS version chickened out and kept it daylight, which feels like cheating.
It’s janky, atmospheric, and exactly the kind of obscure RPG that’ll either hook you or make you rage-quit by hour two.
