Play Snakes Online
Guide your snake to eat dots, grow longer, and avoid crashing into walls or your own tail in this classic MS-DOS game.

Snakes was part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, a compilation of early titles that captured the spirit of computing in the 1980s. It was a straightforward game, built on simple code, and it ran on hardware that seems primitive by today's standards. You didn't need a manual or a backstory; you just ran the executable and started playing.
You control a short line of blocks, representing a snake, that moves continuously across a bordered screen. The objective is to eat dots that appear randomly; each dot makes your snake grow longer by one segment. The challenge comes from avoiding collisions with the walls and, more critically, with your own ever-lengthening tail. The pacing starts slow but quickly becomes frantic as the screen fills with your own body, leaving less room for error. One mistake ends the game immediately, creating a tense and focused experience. It feels like a race against your own past decisions.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
