Space Ranger came out in 1987 for the Amiga, developed by Arcadia Systems. It was one of those early Amiga shooters that tried to do a bit more than just left-to-right blasting. The graphics were colorful for the time, and it had a certain ambition that stood out, even if it wasn't the most polished game on the platform.

You pilot a small, agile hovercraft with the goal of defending a series of bases from waves of alien attackers. The game is split between ground and air combat; you can fly upward to engage enemies in the sky or stay low to protect structures on the surface. A radar at the top of the screen shows incoming threats, which helps you plan your movement. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty ramps up quickly as more enemies fill the screen. It feels tense and demanding, requiring constant attention to both your positioning and your targets.
