Stakes Winner 2 came out in 1996 as an arcade game from SNK. It was part of that era where arcades still had a lot of unique, quirky titles that you couldn't really find anywhere else. You pick a horse and then control the jockey during races. The main goal is to win each race by navigating through a pack of other horses, all of which are actively trying to block and bump you. Between races, you use button mashing sequences to train your horse, improving its speed and stamina. The pacing is frantic; races are short but intense, with a lot of shoving and tight turns. It feels chaotic and competitive, like you're really fighting for position, not just running a clean lap.
