Game Overview
Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire on N64 was one of those games that made me feel like I was actually in the universe—even if the graphics are hilariously blocky by today's standards. You start off in that iconic Hoth battle, blasting snowspeeders and AT-ATs, and suddenly you're running around as Dash Rendar in third-person shooter mode. The controls take some getting used to (that N64 controller wasn't exactly built for precision aiming), but there's something weirdly satisfying about the clunky jetpack sections and the sewer level where you fight that giant lizard thing.
Half the fun is just seeing how they crammed so much Star Wars fan service into one cartridge—Boba Fett chases, swoop bike races, even a showdown with IG-88. It's not perfect, but if you grew up with this era of Star Wars games, it hits all the right nostalgia buttons. Just don't expect it to hold up like Rogue Squadron did.
