Steel Empire came out on the Game Boy Advance in 2004, a port of an older Genesis game developed by Hot-B. It was a solid horizontal shooter in an era where the GBA had plenty of them, but its distinct visual style and vehicle choice made it stand out from the pack.

You pilot either a nimble fighter plane or a slower, more durable zeppelin through enemy territory, shooting down aircraft, tanks, and massive airships. Your main goal is to survive each stage and defeat the boss waiting at the end. The game gives you a primary forward shot and a limited supply of screen-clearing lightning bombs to handle swarms of foes. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty is demanding, requiring sharp reflexes to navigate dense bullet patterns. It feels tense and satisfying when you finally break through a tough screen after a few attempts.
