Game Overview
Stellar 7 came out for the Amiga in 1990, developed by Dynamix. It was one of those early first-person space shooters that tried to push the hardware a bit, with its 3D vector graphics and free-roaming environments. You could tell it was aiming for something more ambitious than the typical arcade-style space games of the time, even if the technology had its limits.
You pilot the Raven, a heavily armed combat vehicle, and your job is to wipe out the Arcturan forces system by system. Each level is a large, open area where you hunt down enemy tanks and flying guardians while collecting power-ups like the supercannon or the superjump. The real challenge comes from the boss fights waiting at the end of each stage; they demand quick reflexes and good aim. Moving through those stark, polygonal landscapes with enemies closing in from all sides gives the game a tense, isolated feel that sticks with you.
