Super Cauldron on the Amiga takes everything that worked in the 8-bit originals and cranks it up. You play as Zmira, a witch who’s lost her powers and has to fight through four weirdly segmented worlds to get them back. The levels are packed with bats, trolls, and snakes—some of them chase you relentlessly, which keeps things tense.

The spell system is the real star here. You’ve got 12 to choose from, mapped to function keys (though the manual hilariously assumes F11 and F12 exist on Amigas, which… nope). Some spells just beef up your attacks, while others let you conjure staircases or melt metal barriers. The default weapon feels a bit weak, so you’ll want to upgrade fast.

One quirk? Water sections are a gamble—some kill you instantly, others warp you somewhere new, and there’s no way to tell which is which until you jump in. It’s frustrating, but weirdly charming in that old-school way. If you liked the original Cauldron games, this one’s a solid step up.
