Super Soccer came out for the Super Nintendo in 1991, developed by Human Entertainment. It was one of the early sports titles on the system, arriving before many of the more polished franchises had established their footing. You control a team of eleven players, switching between them to chase the ball, tackle opponents, and take shots on goal. The main objective is simple: score more goals than the computer or a second player. A couple of things set it apart; the field is viewed from an isometric perspective, which gives a slightly different feel to the passing angles, and there's a noticeable tilt toward physical, almost aggressive play. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty spikes sharply against later teams, who move the ball with punishing efficiency. It feels like a scrappy, sometimes chaotic match where a single mistake can cost you.
