Tearaway Thomas came out on the Amiga in 1993, published by Global Software. It was one of those platformers that felt right at home on the system, with colorful graphics and a straightforward premise that didn't try to overcomplicate things. You just jumped in and played.
You control Thomas, a little character who runs and jumps through fifty levels spread across five distinct worlds. Your goal is to collect all the gems in a stage to unlock the exit, while avoiding enemies and navigating environmental hazards. The game features moving platforms, ropes to climb, and a lot of vertical level design that encourages careful timing. The pacing is methodical, and the difficulty can be unforgiving if you rush. It feels like a patient, deliberate test of your platforming precision.
