Game Overview

If you grew up watching The Prince of Tennis or just love sports RPGs with a bit of flair, this GBA game is a total blast. You pick your favorite character—Ryoma’s my go-to, obviously—and jump into these fast, snappy tennis matches that somehow feel like a mix of Pokémon battles and an actual sports sim. The special moves are ridiculous in the best way (Tezuka’s "Zero Shiki Drop Shot" still feels unfair), and leveling up your stats actually makes a difference when you’re up against tougher opponents.

What surprised me was how much strategy sneaks in—you can’t just spam power shots or you’ll get wrecked by stamina drain. The sprite work holds up too, with those little anime-style cutscenes between matches. It’s definitely a love letter to fans, but even if you’ve never seen the show, it’s one of the more unique tennis games out there. Just don’t blame me when you start muttering "mada mada dane" under your breath after winning.
