Terranigma came out for the Super Nintendo in 1995, developed by Quintet. It was a late release for the system, arriving when many players were already looking toward newer consoles, which meant it flew under the radar for a lot of people at the time.
You control a young boy named Ark, who sets out to revive a world frozen in crystal. The main goal involves traveling across reborn continents, making choices about which species to reintroduce, and exploring multi-level dungeons filled with puzzles and enemies. Combat is straightforward but responsive, relying on a thrusting spear attack and a useful dash move; you'll also solve environmental puzzles that often involve pushing blocks or hitting switches. The pacing is deliberate, with a mix of quiet world-building and tense combat sequences, and the difficulty feels fair but substantial. Playing it creates a genuine sense of responsibility as you watch your actions directly shape the world.
