I picked up The Dealer back in 2020, an arcade release from GameWorks Studios. It came out during a time when a lot of smaller, fast-paced games were finding their audience through digital storefronts, and this one fit right in with its straightforward, high-energy style.
You control a lone card hustler trying to clear your debt by winning hands and surviving waves of attackers. The main objective is to beat the dealer in blackjack while fending off enemies that swarm the screen between rounds. Signature mechanics include switching between dealing cards and shooting threats, managing a limited ammo supply, and using earned chips to upgrade your weapons mid-game. The pacing is relentless; you barely finish a hand before the next fight breaks out. It feels like balancing on a knife's edge, where one wrong move can cost you everything.
