So this NES version of The Little Mermaid starts right after the movie—Ariel's human now, engaged to Eric, but guess what? Ursula's back and wrecking the ocean. Ariel turns back into a mermaid (after a quick chat with Eric) to fix everything.
You're swimming through these colorful underwater levels, shooting bubbles to trap enemies (which is weirdly satisfying—you can fling them at each other). Sometimes you hop onto land sections, but mostly it's all about the underwater stuff. Oh, and you dig through sand for treasure—most of it's just points, but the good stuff comes from breaking open chests with shells. Those upgrades make your bubbles way more powerful, which helps when you're dealing with Ursula's minions later.
It's simpler than most NES games, but the controls feel nice, and the music's those familiar Disney tunes. The bubble mechanic actually makes combat fun instead of frustrating.
