Konami released The Mummy for the Game Boy Advance in 2002, a time when handheld games were often ambitious adaptations of film properties. You control the O'Connell family, switching between Rick, Evelyn, and their son Alex to overcome different obstacles. Rick fights with a sword and breaks weak walls, Evelyn translates hieroglyphs to solve puzzles, and Alex crawls through small passages to avoid traps. The main goal is to explore labyrinthine ruins, defeat mummies and other creatures, and collect pieces of an ancient artifact to prevent Imhotep's return. The game progresses screen by screen, demanding careful character management and situational awareness, with a difficulty that punishes hasty decisions. It feels like a tense, methodical crawl through a dusty, trap-filled tomb where every wrong move has consequences.
