The Ripping Friends came out on Game Boy Advance in 2002, published by Midway Games. It was part of that wave of licensed titles trying to grab attention on the handheld, based on the short-lived cartoon by Spümcø. You don't see many games based on that show anymore, which makes it a curious piece from that era.
You control one of four super-strong brothers, like Rip or Chunk, and your goal is to punch and kick your way through side-scrolling stages filled with weird enemies. The main mechanics involve using exaggerated, stretchy-limbed attacks to clear screens of foes, often while navigating simple platforming sections. You break objects for points, fight screen-locking bosses, and the whole thing moves at a breakneck pace; it can get pretty difficult when the screen gets crowded. It feels like you're playing through a hyperactive, slightly unhinged Saturday morning cartoon.
