Time Lord came out on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1990, developed by Rare and published by Milton Bradley. It was part of that wave of later NES titles that tried to do something a little different, moving beyond straightforward platformers into more complex, puzzle-oriented action.

You control a time agent sent to stop aliens from corrupting history across five distinct eras, from the Wild West to a futuristic city. The main goal is to find three hidden time orbs in each level before a strict, ever-present doomsday clock runs out. Your primary weapon is a laser pistol, but you find era-specific power-ups, like a six-shooter or a photon blaster, that change how you engage enemies. Navigating each large, maze-like stage involves careful exploration, combat, and solving simple environmental puzzles to access new areas. The pacing is relentless due to the constant timer, and the difficulty is significant, demanding efficient routes and quick reflexes. It feels like a tense race against the clock where every second and every mistake matters.
