Total Recall Disk1 came out on the Amiga in 1990, published by Ocean Software. It was one of many movie tie-in games from that era, trying to capture the frantic energy of the Arnold Schwarzenegger film on home computers. You control a character navigating through side-scrolling levels, driving vehicles and fighting enemies with weapons or melee attacks. The main goal is to survive seven stages, each with its own obstacles, simple puzzles, and boss battles against enemy vehicles. The gameplay shifts between on-foot platforming and high-speed driving sections, requiring quick reflexes and a good memory for stage layouts. It moves at a fast pace and can be quite difficult, with instant deaths and limited continues. Playing it feels like a relentless sprint through a chaotic, pixelated version of the movie's plot.
