Track & Field for the NES is where your thumbs either become champions or give up entirely. You’ll be hammering the buttons like a maniac to sprint, hurdle, or throw the javelin—and yes, your controller will hate you for it. The faster you mash, the faster your little pixel athlete runs, which sounds simple until your fingers start cramping halfway through the 100-meter dash.
It’s one of those games where you’ll catch yourself leaning forward like it’ll somehow make your guy go faster. And if you’ve got a friend nearby, prepare for some very loud, very intense button-slapping competitions. Just don’t blame me when someone accidentally flings the controller across the room.
This was basically the granddaddy of all button-mashing sports games, and you can still feel its influence in stuff like Olympic-style titles today. Just maybe take breaks between events—your hands will thank you.
