Trog! came out on the NES in 1991, published by Acclaim Entertainment. It was a port of the arcade game, landing on the console during a time when simple, competitive multiplayer games were still a big draw alongside the more complex adventures. You control one of four colorful dinosaurs, each with their own name and personality, trying to survive in a world full of cavemen.

You navigate a single-screen maze, collecting all the eggs while avoiding the club-wielding Trogs. The main objective is to clear each stage by gathering every egg before the enemies can catch you. Two key mechanics define the action: you can punch the cavemen to stun them temporarily, and you can find power-ups like speed boosts or the ability to turn into a giant, fire-breathing T-rex that can destroy everything on screen. The pacing is frantic, and the difficulty ramps up quickly as more enemies appear. It feels like a pure, chaotic race against time, especially with a friend in two-player mode.
