Bank hard between missile trails as blips swarm the radar, wrestling the stick to keep your jet airborne while the carrier deck keeps disappearing beneath you. Those tailwire landings still make you sweat every time.

Turn and Burn: No-Fly Zone came out for the Super Nintendo in 1994, developed by Pack-In-Video. It was part of that wave of flight sims and arcade shooters that tried to bring a little more realism to the 16-bit era, sitting somewhere between the pick-up-and-play action of After Burner and the more deliberate pace of something like F-15 Strike Eagle. It didn't redefine the genre, but it had its own specific feel that stood out if you spent time with it.
You pilot an F-14 Tomcat, tasked with clearing hostile aircraft from designated zones. The core loop involves taking off from an aircraft carrier, engaging enemy fighters and bombers in dogfights, and then successfully returning to land on the moving carrier. Two mechanics define the challenge: managing your fuel and weapons systems carefully to avoid being stranded, and executing precise carrier landings that require correct speed and alignment. The pacing is methodical, with tense bursts of combat punctuating longer navigation segments. It feels like a constant balancing act between aggression and conservation, where a single botched landing can undo a successful mission.
