Game Overview
Twin Eagle is one of those NES shooters that doesn’t waste time—you’re in a helicopter, the screen’s already swarming with tanks and jets, and your only options are to shoot or explode. The controls are surprisingly smooth for an unlicensed game, though the hitboxes can feel a little generous (or cruel, depending on how many bullets you’ve just dodged).
The Asian version has this weird, almost bootleg energy—some of the sprites look like they were drawn in a hurry, and the music has that tinny charm only unlicensed carts seem to nail. It’s messy in a way that makes it more interesting than some official releases. If you’ve played Jackal and wished it was a little rougher around the edges, this is your game.
Fair warning: by stage 3, the screen gets so crowded with enemy fire that you’ll start weaving through bullets like you’re in a dodgeball tournament. It’s the good kind of frustrating.
