Ultra Balloon came out in 1996 for arcades, and I first played it through MAME years later. It was developed by SunA, a company that made a handful of quirky arcade titles in that era. You control a small, round character who throws balloons to capture enemies. The goal is to clear each single-screen stage by trapping every foe inside a balloon, then popping them. Your main tools are your throw and a dash move to avoid getting cornered. The pace is relentless; enemies pour in quickly, and the screen gets crowded with bouncing balloons and hazards in no time. It feels like controlled chaos when you get into a flow, darting between threats and timing your throws just right before everything overwhelms you.
