Ultra Golf is one of those old-school Game Boy sports games that somehow nails the satisfying simplicity of golf. You’ve got two courses—nothing fancy, but they’re just tricky enough to keep you adjusting your shots. The overhead view helps you plan, but the real fun starts when you switch to the shot screen. Pick your club, line up the angle, and then it’s all about timing those two button presses just right. Mess up the second tap, and your ball veers off into the rough (or worse, the water).

Wind actually matters here, which I didn’t expect at first—aim slightly into the breeze, or watch your perfect shot get carried away. Tournament mode adds some pressure, but I mostly just zone out in training, trying to shave strokes off my best run. It’s the kind of game you play in short bursts, muttering at the screen when the wind changes last second.
