Funny World and Balloon Boy came out for the Sega Genesis in 1993, developed by Realtec. It was one of those lesser known platformers that showed up in the later years of the console, when developers were still trying to squeeze new ideas out of the hardware. You don't hear much about it, but it had a certain weird charm that made it stand out from the more polished titles.

You control a small boy who uses balloons to float and bounce through a series of single screen stages. The goal is simply to reach the exit in each one, but getting there means navigating a mess of moving platforms, bouncing off enemies, and avoiding instant death traps like spikes and falling fruit. The physics are intentionally loose; your jumps feel floaty and imprecise, making every landing a minor gamble. It's not a long or complex game, but the level designs are chaotic and demand quick adjustments rather than careful planning. Playing it feels like trying to steer a soap bubble through a wind tunnel.
