Game Overview

World Video Game Championship 2 is one of those Genesis games you stumble on and think, "How have I never heard of this?" It's got that classic arcade tournament vibe—like someone took the best parts of early '90s gaming and crammed them into one cartridge. The first time I booted it up, I was immediately hit with bright, chunky pixels and music that sounds like it's straight out of a Sega arcade cabinet.

You jump between different mini-game challenges—some feel like stripped-down versions of classics, others are weird little experiments that somehow work. The controls are snappy (thankfully, since some stages demand pixel-perfect jumps), and there's this great tension between wanting to beat your high score and just seeing what bizarre challenge pops up next. It's not polished like a AAA title, but that roughness gives it charm—like finding an old arcade flyer tucked in a drawer.

If you miss the days when games didn't hold your hand and just threw you into the action, this is worth digging up. Just don't blame me when you lose an hour to "one last try."
