Undead Line, an English translation of a Japan exclusive Sega Genesis title, was developed by Sanritsu and published by Data East. It arrived on a console known for action, fitting right in with other fast paced, side scrolling shooters of the early 90s.
You control a lone soldier fighting through a city overrun by the undead. Your main goal is to survive the onslaught, clearing each screen of monsters before you can advance. The game uses a unique, top down perspective that scrolls in four directions, and you collect power ups to switch between a standard rifle and more absurd weapons like a flamethrower or a spread shot. The pacing is relentless, with enemies swarming from all sides, and the difficulty is punishing if you hesitate. It feels like a desperate, chaotic battle for every inch of ground.
