Play Undead Line (Japan) Online
Battle through a zombie-infested Tokyo, using a psychic yo-yo to clear screens of enemies and hunt for keys to progress in this fast-paced action game.
Undead Line came out for the Sega Genesis in 1991, developed by Palsoft. It was one of those lesser-known action games that blended horror and sci-fi, typical of the era's experimental approach. You don't see many titles that mix zombies with psychic weaponry, but it fit right in with the console's diverse library.
You control a psychic agent fighting through a monster-infested Tokyo, clearing each screen of enemies before moving to the next. Your main weapon is a psychic yo-yo that you can upgrade by collecting power-ups dropped by defeated foes. The game uses a top-down perspective with maze-like stages, and you need to hunt down keys to progress while avoiding swarms of zombies and floating skulls. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty ramps up quickly with screen-filling bosses. It feels frantic and a little messy, but landing a fully-powered yo-yo swing into a crowd of monsters is deeply satisfying.
