Vengeance of Excalibur picks up right after Spirit of Excalibur left off—Britain’s in trouble again, because apparently demons don’t take vacations. This time, some nightmare called the Shadowmaster (thanks, Morgan Le Fay) is running wild, kidnapping enchantresses and generally being the worst houseguest ever. You’ve got to rally the knights and sort this mess out.
The whole thing plays out in seven acts, mixing RPG exploration with light strategy battles. The world’s this weirdly cool medieval Spain-inspired map dotted with castles and towns—you click around to travel, then get these gorgeous hand-painted backdrops whenever you arrive somewhere. Combat’s simple but satisfying, and the whole thing’s mouse-driven (though keyboard shortcuts help if you’re impatient).
Honestly, the art’s the real star here—those backdrops make every location feel like an old storybook page. Just don’t expect deep RPG mechanics; it’s more about the atmosphere and chipping away at the Shadowmaster’s nonsense one knightly errand at a time.
