Wagyan Land came out for the NES in 1989, developed and published by Namco. It was part of that wave of late 80s platformers, the kind that felt experimental and a little weird, before everything got too polished or too hard. It didn't have the big franchise name, but it had a lot of personality.

You control a young dragon named Wagyan, and your goal is to rescue your kidnapped friends from a series of themed worlds. The main mechanics involve bouncing on giant, springy mushrooms to reach high platforms and spitting fire at enemies, which can also be used to break certain blocks. The game is structured screen by screen, and the pacing is generally forgiving, more about exploration and finding secrets than brutal difficulty. It feels cheerful and a little silly, like playing through a Saturday morning cartoon.
