Game Overview

Wario's Woods is one of those puzzle games that feels familiar at first—blocks falling, colors matching—but then throws you for a loop. You're not just rotating pieces like in Tetris; you're Toad, scrambling around the screen, grabbing monsters and bombs, trying to stack them just right so they explode together.

The controls take some getting used to. At first, I kept mixing up which button grabs a whole stack versus just one monster. But once it clicks, there's something satisfying about kicking a bomb into place or climbing a tower of enemies to snag the right color before it lands.

The NES version is stripped down—no CPU battles, just the round mode with boss fights every few levels. It's still chaotic fun, especially when you pull off a big combo and watch half the screen vanish. The real challenge is keeping up as the speed ramps up.

It's not the deepest puzzle game, but Wario's Woods has a weird charm to it, especially if you like scrambling under pressure.
