Play Wheel of Fortune (Rev A) Online

Spinning that janky wheel never gets old—you’ll shout random letters at the screen, curse when it lands on Bankrupt, then somehow feel like a genius solving "rhinoceros" with two vowels left. The tin-can crowd cheers just make it better.

Game Overview

Wheel of Fortune for the NES came out in 1988 from GameTek, right in the thick of the console's life. It was one of those many game show adaptations that tried to capture the feeling of watching TV in your living room, but this one actually let you play along. It fit right in with the simple, straightforward entertainment people expected from their Nintendo at the time.

You control a contestant, choosing letters to try and solve a hidden phrase. The main goal is to earn more money than the other players by spinning the wheel, buying vowels, and correctly guessing the puzzle. The signature mechanics are the spinning wheel itself, which can land on cash amounts or dreaded penalties like Bankrupt, and the process of calling consonants to reveal the puzzle. The pacing is quick, built around short rounds, but the difficulty can spike with tricky phrases. It feels like a genuine, if slightly clunky, attempt to bring the tension and excitement of the show into a video game.
