Play Willow (Europe) Online
Swing your sword in side-scrolling brawls, then swap runes to brew spells as you recruit allies across a chunky pixel world—it’s that weird NES RPG that actually gets magic right.

Game Overview
Willow on the NES is one of those late '80s RPGs that somehow flew under the radar—probably because everyone was too busy playing Zelda. But if you missed it back then, it’s a solid little adventure with a surprising amount of depth. You play as Willow (obviously), swinging a sword, casting spells, and recruiting allies like Madmartigan to help you protect baby Elora Danan. The magic system’s actually pretty cool—you collect runes and combine them to unlock different spells, which feels way more involved than most NES games.
The overworld’s got that classic top-down exploration vibe, but battles switch to a side-scrolling hack-and-slash mode. It’s a weird mix at first, but it works. And yeah, the pixel art’s charming, especially for a licensed game—some of the enemy designs are surprisingly detailed. Just don’t expect it to hold your hand; this one’s got some old-school difficulty spikes. If you’re into retro RPGs with a bit of personality, Willow’s a fun time capsule.
