Game Overview

World Cup on NES is basically what happens when the folks behind River City Ransom decide to make a soccer game—and it's as chaotic as you'd expect. The players have that same exaggerated, cartoony style, and the action feels more like a street brawl with a ball than proper football. Slide tackles send opponents flying, shots are weirdly overpowered, and the whole thing has this rough-but-fun energy.

It’s actually a localized version of a Japanese dodgeball-soccer hybrid (the original title translates to something like "Hot-Blooded High School Dodgeball Club: Soccer Edition"). Once you get past the janky controls, there’s something weirdly satisfying about bulldozing through defenders. Just don’t expect FIFA-level realism.
